Erich Netherton is an award winning composer, sound designer, and instrument creator based in Atlanta, GA. While hunting for more unique sonic textures, he created The Netherbox, a percussion instrument made of wood, threaded rods, and springs. Though the sounds worked well for his initial need of sound design it was the musicality that struck him most. The Netherbox was chosen as a finalist for Georgia Tech’s international new musical instrument competition, The Guthman Musical Instrument Competition. Erich creates The Netherboxes and the Netherbox sibling The Apollotron from his garage workshop. With The Netherbox and The Apollotron Erich composes with intricate rhythms and deep textures that mesmerize. With The Netherbox Erich answers the question everyone asks "What if musical instruments ceased to be and we had to start over with the scraps laying around?”
